Scott R. Zeigen, M.D., F.A.A.O, medical director

Scott Zeigen, M.D. is a Board Certified Eye Physician and Surgeon (Ophthalmologist). He is on staff at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, and the Wills Eye Surgicenter on Old York Road in Warminster where he does all of his surgical cases.

Dr. Zeigen is extremely experienced in modern cataract surgery. He was one of the first Ophthalmologists in the country to use foldable intraocular lens implants, now the defacto method of lens implantation.

In addition to cataract surgery, Dr. Zeigen performs glaucoma surgery and laser procedures. Though trained to do refractive surgery, Dr. Zeigen works closely with several other Ophthalmologists when patients desire laser refractive surgery. Dr. Zeigen can perform all your post-operative care after your refractive surgery.

Dr. Zeigen's educational training...

• 1977: Granted A.B. (Artium Baccalaureus) in Physiology from Rutgers College (one of the original colonial colleges, along with Princeton, Brown and Harvard) as a prestigious Henry Rutgers Scholar
• 1977 to 1978: Biomedical research at Rutgers Medical School
• 1982: Granted M.D. degree from Rutgers Medical School (now called Robert Wood Johnson Medical School).
• 1982 to 1984: Internal Medicine residency at The Medical College of Pennsylvania.
• 1984 to 1985: Internal Medicine practice treating diabetes and other chronic medical conditions.
• 1985 to 1988: Three year Ophthalmology residency at Temple University Hospital where he was Chief Resident
• 1989: Board Certified in Ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
• 1989 to present: Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (F.A.A.O.).
• Society memberships: American Academy of Ophthalmology, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology, Bucks County Medical Society.

All told, Dr. Zeigen has had nine years of graduate and postgraduate medical and surgical training. He repeatedly surpasses the Continuing Medical Education requirements of both the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He routinely attends the Saturday morning Wills Eye Hospital lectures, and the two day Wills Eye Hospital Conference each year.
